Where the path began
A winter at Mount Qingcheng
Winter · 2021While I was still at university, I visited Mount Qingcheng—one of the historic birthplaces of Taoist culture in China. In the quiet of the mountain, I met an accomplished Taoist master who believed I had a particular affinity with Chinese metaphysics.
He gave me a copy of The Complete Book of Zi Wei Dou Shu and invited me to study the system under his guidance. That encounter became my first genuine step into the world of traditional Chinese astrology and Taoist wisdom.
What began as curiosity gradually developed into long-term practice. Zi Wei Dou Shu showed me that a birth chart is not simply a device for predicting the future. It can be a structured way to examine character, life phases, timing, choices, and changing circumstances.
The book I received at Mount Qingcheng became the starting point of my journey. Over time, my studies expanded into the I Ching, BaZi, Qimen Dunjia, and traditional Feng Shui—and eventually into the question of how digital tools can help this knowledge travel across cultures.
